This hidden iPhone setting will increase your speaker volume – perfect for awkward social gatherings – Get Surrey
We’ve all been in a social situation where music is necessary – perhaps the quiet is a little too uncomfortable without it.
But the iPhone maximum volume alone is too quiet and the tricks of putting the phone in a mug or pint glass just don’t quite do it. Everyone is starting to feel a bit awkward…
Well, here is a little known software feature to save you from ever being in a situation like that again.
All you need to do on your iPhone is go into “Settings”, tap on “Music” and then scroll down and tap on “EQ”. For those who, like us, don’t know what this means, apparently it stands for equaliser.
You then select the “Late Night” option and your iPhone will immediately sound louder on its own.
Now for the tech facts behind this wizardry…
The Late Night option compresses the dynamic range of the track you are playing. This means that loud sounds are turned down and quiet parts are turned up which make it a little easier to hear what’s happening.
The overall effect of this is to make what you’re listening to sound louder and clearer.
Be careful after you use it though, Late Night mode affects everything on your phone.
This means that when that 7am alarm goes off the next morning, or you tap on the keyboard, you might get slightly more than you bargained for.. .
