Just in time for a new school year, the kid-friendly Osmo iPad accessory is now compatible with iPhones.

Developed by a pair of ex-Googlers, the augmented reality platform uses a reflective mirror to turn the surface in front of your device screen into an interactive play area.

“[Our team] has been working overdrive for months to make Osmo capable of running on an iPhone,” CEO Pramod Sharma told Digital Trends. “This is no small technical feat.”

Rather than trying to shrink the iPad-sized clip-on mirror and stand to fit Apple’s famed smartphone, the company went back to the drawing board to engineer an entirely new product.

It took three years, but Tangible Play finally unveiled the iPhone Base: a foldable frame that, when in use, looks like it’s in a perpetual state of upward-facing dog.

Simply slip your handset (iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, or 7 Plus) into the brackets, snap that red mirror over the front camera, and dive in.

Available now to pre-order, the $29 smartphone-friendly device is expected to ship to US customers in “early October”; it comes with the base, reflector, and cloth bag for storage—everything you need to play Newton and Masterpiece. Early-bird buyers also get 10 percent off three games of your choice.

Additional games and game pieces can be picked up via Osmo and participating local retailers (including Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Target, and Toys R Us).

Osmo users are not required to repurchase any games you’ve already acquired; all nine titles—including Tangram, Monster, Numbers, and Masterpiece—work across either iDevice.

The new iPhone Base is just one of a handful of expected updates. You spoke, and Tangible Play listened: Starting with last week’s reveal, the company will be sharing more news in a series of upcoming emails.

“For the grand finale on Sept. 28, we’ll announce this year’s hottest holiday gift: something super fun that parents will actually feel great about giving,” a recent blog post said.
